Couple in custody for murdering Former Rumphi legislator

Police in Mulanje have arrested a 32 year old man , Mac Novas Sabuneti and his wife Grace Maluwa, 22 years in connection to the death of a 48 year old man ,Joshua Mzembe who was found dead and slightly buried on the edge of Ngolowera graveyard earlier this Month.

According to reports, Mzembe ( now deceased) have since known the suspect as a witch doctor and he approached him to help him with traditional medicine as he was planning to compete in the forthcoming elections as member of Parliament.

It is further reported that Sabuteni for reasons best known for himself later murdered Mzembe and went away with his two cellphones and other assaulted items before burying his body at the nearest graveyard.

A week after the incident ,Sabuteni and his wife were later arrested following a subsequent use of intelligence and call logs, The body has so far been exhumedtoday on 13 November 2023 by the deceased’s relatives for burial in Rumphi District.

Sabuteni hails from Mangani Village, in the area of Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District whilst his wife hails from Namatingwi village,Traditional Authority Chikumbu in the same District.

The suspects will appear in court soon to answer the murder charges.
