Angry Malawians demand refund from “swindling” Awilo Longomba

Angry Malawians are demanding a refund from the “swindling” Congolese-born Musician, Awilo Longomba as he has failed to jet in Malawi for a musical show which was scheduled for today at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC).
Awilo who was expected to perform alongside local Afro-jazz star Lawi cut communication with him [Lawi] days leaving his partner in suspense.
According to the information that we have, Lawi already invested K15 million for Awilo’s travel tickets and other logistical arrangements.
In a video on Patience Namadingo’s Facebook Page, Lawi said he is disappointed with the conduct of Awilo.
It is reportedly that Awilo is in Nigeria at the moment on another assignment.
Most malawian has expressed their anger on social media and the have demanded Awilo Longomba to refund the money back to Lawi since this is not the first time not to come to malawi when he do so in December 2022.
One of the Legendary musician Lucious Banda posted at his Facebook page saying Awilo Longomba did the same during his show but he did what he knows to force Awilo Longomba to jet in Malawi whe he send his boys to UK to take him to come to Malawi and he had demanded Awilo Longomba to refund the money.
He said, “Ifenso adatizumza titamulipira kale Anakana kukakwera ndege koma poti we come from street, Tidamutumizira adzukulu ku UK konko adakaikwera ndege asakufuna, adabwera. I may not be able to join Namadingo since i am commited in mchinji. Koma Na dollayo nde Abweza afune asafune… Malawi lets support our son tomorrow. My heart is with you “Angoni” Lawi.”
“He fail to come last year and this year we contacted him and we agreed that he will come and we already buy ticket for him and his friend which costed us K8 million and when we do calculation for the whole amount it reaches K15 million.
“We understand that he is in Nigeria where he want to perform at a certain show and he is not picking up our phone call when contacted.”
In another video clip another person who is being known by the name of Brown and he says is Longomba’s manager says Lawi breaks some of the rules of their contract as they were told to send the money two weeks before the day of the show but the malawian artist send the money on Wednesday this week which prompted Awilo Longomba not to show up.
Brown added that they have not yet withdrawn the money and they do not know that the money has been sent.
Because of the foregoing, Namadingo has volunteered to step in for the absent Awilo.
“In times such as these we need to stand up for each other. I will perform for free. And it’s going to be a full set,” said Namadingo.
The two artists also revealed that they will use the platform to release their new joint single.
This week, Castel Malawi Limited unveiled a K7 million partnership with Lawi for the show.
