MK80M too much for Kumwembe? Green Buffaloes priced out of Kumwembe
Zambia Super League side, Green Buffaloes Football Club has failed to land their target, Christopher Kumwembe from Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, reports Zambia’s Media outlet, BolaNews.com
According to the Online publication, Green Buffaloes has been priced out of the Malawi’s striker as his parent club is demanding at least MK80 Million for the move of the former Civil Service United attacker.
Buffalo scouted Kumwembe during the just-ended HollywoodBets Cosafa Cup and they showed their interest by penning a letter to the Malawi’s Super League side, Wanderers. The Lusaka based side asked for the services of the towering striker either on loan or permanent deal
“Green Buffaloes has expressed interest in the services of Christopher Kumwembe either on loan or permanent deal. In view of the above request that we enter into negotiations with you at an appropriate date and time,” reads the letter in part.
However, 20 days down the line, the BolaNews said Buffaloes cannot manage to pay the demanded amount of money.
“It appears that Buffaloes cannot manage to spend that much. They were negotiating to see to it that the amount dropped. If that failed, they wanted the striker on loan for a year,” said the source.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Acting Chief Executive Officer, Roosevelt Mpinganjira said the Club decided to tell the Army Sponsored side that their striker is not for sale.
“We sat down and looked into what they had presented. So, we agreed to write to them and tell them that the said player is not for sale
“We talked to the player, and following that, we wrote to the club telling them that the player is not for sale and we did not enter into any discussion,” he said.
Christopher Kumwembe who completed his move from Civil Service United earlier this year has been at the pinnacle of Wanderers this season, scoring 7 league goals in 13 appearances.
He was in the squad of the Malawi National Team that reached the semi-finals of the Cosafa Cup for the first time since 2003. He played all the games and he scored once.
