Murder suspect hands himself to police in Mzimba
A 44-year-old man, David Nkhambule, has on August 19, 2023 handed himself over to the Police after stubbing to death Cain Ngwira and severely injuring the deceased’s brother ,Holman Ngwira, at a drinking joint the previous day in Mzimba.
Nkhambule handed himself at Champhira Police Post after getting the wind that the police had instituted a manhunt for him. Ealier, he went to a drinking spree at Luwerezi with a woman and whilst there he noticed as if Cain and his two brothers were conniving to snatch his woman who happens to be a sex worker.
According to Nkhambule, he recalls picking a fight with Cain and his two brothers at the shebeen which is owned by their sister after she skeptically ordered for its closure.He further says it was not his intention to stub the two and killing Cain in the end.
Nkhambule has since been charged with murder and acts intended to cause grievous harm which is against sections 209 and 235 of the penal code respectively. He will appear before court in due course.
Jenda police advices the community at large to always act responsibly whilst at drinking places to avoid making regrettable decisions that could end one’s life or land them in trouble.
