Unknown Pedestrian Dies in a Road Accident

Unknown Adult male pedestrian has died in a road accident which occured on June 27, 2023 around (Time) at Holera area near Enukweni Trading Centre along Mzuzu- Karonga M1 Road.

The accident involved motor vehicle registration number CP 1012 Toyota Sienta Saloon driven by Mr Gideon Jere 34, of Jere Village Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzima who was driving from Enukweni Trading Center heading the Bwengu direction with three passengers on board.

As he was passing by Holera area, due to over- speeding, he hit an unknown adult male pedestrian who was crossing from left to right hand side of the road.

Due to the impact, the victim sustained severe head injuries and multiple fractures on both legs. He was then taken to Enukweni health centre where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The motor vehicle had its windscreen shuttered and left front part extensively damaged.

Police in Mzuzu are appealing to all road users to adhere to all road traffic rules and regulations inorder to avoid these fates.

Meanwhile, Police are calling on people who are missing their male relative to go at Mzuzu central hospital for identification.
