FAM President Fleetwood Haiya Attends Mulhako wa Alhomwe Cultural Festival

The President of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), Fleetwood Haiya, joined thousands of Malawians in celebrating the Mulhako wa Alhomwe cultural festival held in Mulanje. The event was a vibrant showcase of the rich heritage, traditions, and unity of the Lhomwe people.

Speaking after attending the festival, President Haiya expressed deep admiration for the ceremony, describing it as a beautiful and meaningful occasion.

> “Today, I attended the Mulhako wa Alhomwe cultural festival in Mulanje — a wonderful celebration of heritage, unity, and identity of the Lhomwe people,” said Haiya.

He emphasized the importance of such gatherings in fostering a shared national identity and preserving Malawi’s cultural diversity.

> “It was a truly beautiful ceremony that reminded us of the importance of preserving and honoring our culture while embracing our unity in diversity. I look forward to seeing more of such cultural festivals that continue to strengthen our national pride, togetherness, and coexistence,” he added.

The Mulhako wa Alhomwe festival has become a significant annual event on Malawi’s cultural calendar, drawing attendees from all walks of life, including traditional leaders, political figures, and cultural enthusiasts. The festival not only celebrates the customs of the Lhomwe people but also promotes peaceful coexistence among Malawi’s many ethnic groups.
