A new survey by The Malawi Guardian indicates that UTM’s shadow Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City South East, Catherine Nyangulu, is poised for a decisive win in the upcoming polls, commanding an impressive 63% of the projected vote.

According to the findings, in every 10 households surveyed, six expressed clear support for Nyangulu. The survey, conducted by The Malawi Guardian research team, covered key areas including Chiputula, Kanthete, Msongwe, and Masasa/Hilltop.

Residents said they are inspired by Nyangulu’s commitment to delivering practical projects once elected, such as expanding water connections to underserved communities, empowering women and youths through skills training and entrepreneurship programs, improving road networks, and maintaining critical bridges to ensure safe and reliable transport.

James Mhone of Songwe remarked, “We have seen many promises before, but Nyangulu’s track record in community work makes us believe she will deliver. Our roads and bridges have been ignored for too long.”

From Kanthete, Edina Msiska added, “Water connection is a big challenge here. Nyangulu has assured us that piped water will reach every household. For me, that is enough reason to vote for her.”

Vincent Moyo of Chiputula echoed similar sentiments, saying, “The future belongs to the youth, and Nyangulu understands that. Her plans to create job opportunities through vocational training and small business support are exactly what we need.”

With the election fast approaching, these survey figures suggest that Nyangulu could secure a strong mandate if current voter sentiments remain unchanged.
