Barber netted for stealing 14 cell phones at Jenda

Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested 27-year-old Mickson Kwenda on suspicion that he stole 14 cellphones of his clients at his barbershop.

It is established that Kwenda was employed on August 1 2023 as a barber and, three days later, he received 14 cellphones for charging.

Around lunch time Kwenda told his boss Emmanuel Shaba to buy chips. Taking advantage that Shaba was away, Kwenda took all the 14 phones and vanished. The phones were valued at K1.6 million.

The matter was reported both at Jenda Police station Jenda roadblock. Acting on the information Jenda police through the roadblock apprehended the suspect and all 14 cellphones were immediately recovered from him./ Okay

Kwenda has been charged with theft by servant which is contrary to section 286 of the penal code and he will appear before court soon.

Jenda Police further warns the business fraternity to do a background check on all the people they intend to employ to avoid similar cases which could be detrimental to their business.

Mickson Kwenda hails from Kapola village, Traditional Authority Kaomba in Kasungu district.
