The Officer In-charge for Mzuzu Police station Edwin Magalasi ACP on Tuesday 4th July, 2023 was invited by Chambo Community where community members wanted to express their dream to have a police formation in the area.
His visit among others aimed at seeing the place where the police unit will be located.
The Officer Incharge was welcomed by Mulumuzana Majawira Shera, Inkosana Ezekiel Jere, Village headman James Mumba and chair of trade market Dickson Nyambose.
The community of Chambo is more than ready to have the police unit in order to reduce crime in their area. Their readiness has been shown through offering the already existed building to be used as police offices and they have already found 3 houses for rentals to be used by officers.
The OC urged the community leaders that the building needs to be maintained and once they are done feedback should be communicated to his office.
He also expressed happiness by the gesture of the the community in taking the right stepping supporting efforts by Police to put criminality at bay in the area under his jurisdiction. His wish is to bring security closer to the people Police serves.
Thereafter the OC interacted with some business tycoons at Ekwenden Trading center as well as albino campus.
The OC entourage included Mrs Annie kaunda, ACP , S/Insp Ngulube, D/Sgt menai Nogwe and Constable Mercy Chitonde.
