Late Hon. Goodall Gondwe was a wise and experienced leader. He was Malawi’s Finance Minister and did a great job controlling inflation and growing the economy. People joked that he used his walking stick to keep everyone in line. But his achievements were no joke. He was a respected leader who got things done.

We can learn from leaders like Nelson Mandela, who fought for equality in South Africa, Lee Kuan Yew, who made Singapore a prosperous country, and Goodall Gondwe himself, who used his experience to make Malawi’s economy strong. Their legacies show us that experience and wisdom are essential for effective leadership.

As we look to the future, let’s make a promise to ourselves. In 2025 and beyond, let’s value experience over speeches. Let’s choose leaders who have a track record of success, not just a gift for words.
