Singini powers Hammers past Eagles
Blessings Singini scored his fourth goal in three consecutive games as Ekwendeni Hammers were 1-0 winners over last season’s runners up, Blue Eagles at Mzuzu Stadium.
The Captain, Singini lighted the touch papper the in 32 minutes of the first half from a free-kick which deflected off the wall before beating John Soko who was manning the posts.
In their quest to force a draw, Eagles changed the play in the second half but chances to score were just minimal as Hammers goalkeeper, Micah Chiyenda couldn’t allow the Eagles to have access to the goals.
Speaking after the game Assistant coach for Hammers, Lucky Mauluka said his boys were just good today.
“We played well and we told our boys before the game that they should keep the ball and attack more. That’s what exactly they [the Boys] did and we have managed to bag three points today,” said Mauluka.
On his part Blue Eagles Assistant Coach Christopher Sibale blame the officiating panel.
“We lost yes this is because we were playing with two teams, Ekwendeni Hammers and the team of referees, how can we score goals while every move we made ended with offside,” said Sibale.
With the win Hammers have climbed the table up and replace Chitipa on Fourth position with 18 points, while Blue Eagles are on position 8 with 12 points after 11 games.
