Arsenal Supporter Nabbed with Suspected Stolen Electronics in Lilongwe
Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 36-year-old man, identified as Jafali Jeke reportedly an Arsenal supporter for being found in possession of dozens of electronic gadgets suspected to have been stolen.
According to Kanengo Police Station, Jeke was apprehended on May 5, 2026, following a spike in burglary and theft reports, particularly from residents of Area 25 and surrounding locations.
Investigations led detectives to Nsungwi area, where multiple complaints pointed to the theft of smartphones. Police established that some of the stolen devices were allegedly being sold to Jeke, who resides in Chinsapo 2.
A raid conducted at his residence uncovered a total of 82 smartphones, along with other electronic items including two Samsung tablets, two Dell monitors, two HP CPUs, a Tribit Bluetooth speaker, computer accessories, a solar panel, an energy regulator, an Airtel internet router, and a plasma television.
Police say Jeke failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the ownership of the items, prompting his immediate arrest.
He has since been charged with possession of property suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained and is expected to appear in court once formal procedures are finalized.
Meanwhile, Kanengo Police are urging members of the public who may have lost similar gadgets to visit the station for identification. Recovered items will only be handed over after proper ownership verification.
