In a bid to address the poor state of its roads, Mzuzu City Council (MCC) has launched a K455 million road grading and gravelling project across 15 wards.

The project, scheduled to take three months, aims to rehabilitate the city’s roads, which have been in disrepair since the last gravelling in 2019.

MCC Chief Executive Officer, Gomezgani Nyasulu, acknowledged the urgent need for road rehabilitation, committing to restart stalled road projects in the city before the end of the year.

The move is a welcome relief for residents, who have been calling for attention to the city’s deteriorating roads.

Chiputula Ward Councillor Hilwett Mkandawire expressed gratitude for the project, stating that it was long overdue.

He emphasized that all roads in the township require immediate attention, highlighting the need for sustained investment in road maintenance.

By taking proactive steps to address its road network, MCC is demonstrating its commitment to improving the quality of life for Mzuzu residents and enhancing the city’s infrastructure.
