FAM President Haiya Rallies Flames Ahead of Lesotho Friendly Matches
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the Flames as they prepare for upcoming international assignments. On Monday morning, Haiya paid a motivational visit to the national team camp, where the squad is gearing up for departure to Bloemfontein, South Africa.
The Flames are scheduled to play two back-to-back friendly matches against Lesotho—games that Haiya described as crucial in the team’s broader preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers. He emphasized that these matches offer Malawi a valuable opportunity to test new combinations, build team chemistry, and fine-tune tactics ahead of next year’s competitive fixtures.
Speaking to the players and technical staff, Haiya encouraged the team to maintain discipline, focus, and determination throughout the training sessions and upcoming games. He stressed the importance of representing Malawi with pride and giving their all on the pitch.
“These friendly matches are part of a bigger journey,” Haiya told the squad. “We must use them to strengthen our identity, sharpen our performance, and ensure we are fully prepared for the AFCON Qualifiers. Stay focused, fight hard, and make the nation proud.”
The FAM President also highlighted the Association’s ongoing efforts to improve the national team setup, reaffirming the #TransformingTheGame agenda, which aims to elevate Malawi’s football standards both on and off the field.
As the Flames head to Bloemfontein, national expectations remain high, with fans hoping the friendly matches will mark the beginning of a stronger, more competitive Malawi side.
Let’s go and win together!
