Mzuzu, Malawi — Linde Lounge and Grill has stepped into the boxing ring — not to fight, but to empower. The popular entertainment and hospitality establishment has sponsored the upcoming Mzuzu Boxing Tournament with a K2.5 million contribution to the Malawi Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) Northern Region Committee.

The tournament, set for Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Linde Lodge in Mzuzu, will feature 20 local boxers drawn from clubs across the Northern Region, competing for top honours in an afternoon of thrilling bouts.

Organised in collaboration with MABA, the event aims to promote local boxing, nurture emerging talent, and provide athletes a platform to showcase their skills before a passionate home crowd.

Linde Lounge: Supporting Sport, Empowering Youth

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Denise Lindeire, General Manager of Linde Lounge and Grill, confirmed that all preparations are complete and promised fans an unforgettable afternoon of action.

“We’re excited to host and support this event,” said Lindeire. “At Linde Lounge and Grill, we believe in empowering our community, and sport — especially boxing — offers a powerful avenue to build confidence, discipline, and unity among the youth.”

She added that the sponsorship is part of Linde Lounge’s broader commitment to community development and youth empowerment.

“This is not a one-off partnership,” Lindeire continued. “We see this as the beginning of a long-term journey with MABA and other local sports initiatives. Our goal is to help nurture future champions — both in the ring and in life.”

MABA: A Boost for Northern Region Boxing

MABA Northern Region General Secretary, Mike Lyson Zgambo, applauded Linde Lounge and Grill for their generosity, describing the sponsorship as a major boost for the sport in the North.

“On behalf of the MABA North Committee, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Linde for their incredible support, this K2.5 million sponsorship has made this Sunday’s boxing event possible and will go a long way in motivating our athletes.”

He further highlighted that such corporate partnerships are vital for sustaining boxing programs and improving standards across the country.

“Linde’s contribution doesn’t just fund an event — it fuels dreams, builds discipline, and strengthens the spirit of sportsmanship in every boxer stepping into that ring,” he added. “We call on other businesses to follow Linde’s example and invest in the development of local sports.”

Exciting Bouts and Rising Stars

The tournament is expected to attract a large audience from within and around Mzuzu, with fans set to enjoy an afternoon of intense and entertaining matchups.

The main bout will see Raston Kaira and Nyuma Ngwira face off in what promises to be a crowd-pleasing showdown. The undercard features several rising stars from regional clubs, all eager to make their mark.

Sports analysts have welcomed Linde’s involvement, saying it could reignite the spirit of boxing in the Northern Region.

“This kind of sponsorship shows how local businesses can play a vital role in uplifting communities through sport,” said one observer. “It’s encouraging to see Linde Lounge taking the lead in supporting grassroots boxing.”

Building a Legacy Beyond the Ring

With Linde Lounge and Grill’s sponsorship, the Mzuzu Boxing Tournament is expected not only to deliver thrilling entertainment but also to inspire a new generation of boxers and fans alike.
