NRFA Impressed with Castel Challenge Cup Competition
The Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) has expressed satisfaction with the level of competition in the ongoing Castel Challenge Cup in the region.
NRFA General Secretary, Lupakisko Simwera, made the remarks following the draw for District, Regional, and National Division teams from the Northern Region, held at Luwinga Technical Development Centre in Mzuzu.
Simwera said the association expects competitive matches and hopes to see strong teams emerge from the initial rounds. Out of the 16 participating teams, four will progress to the national phase.

“We are confident that teams from the districts will give us good and competitive games. We have some strong teams, and we believe they will produce good ambassadors for the national phase,” said Simwera.
He also urged participating teams to ensure they meet all requirements, such as Mpira Connect registration, and emphasized that the Competitions Committee has the authority to schedule matches at any suitable venue.
“Teams must meet all competition requirements, including Mpira Connect registration. The Competitions Committee is mandated to schedule games at venues they deem fit,” he added.

Vasco Nyirenda, goalkeeper for Young Movers of Rumphi, expressed satisfaction with the draw, calling it transparent and fair.
“We are very prepared. Reaching this far shows we are a good side, and we are not afraid,” said Nyirenda.
