Government has hailed Micromek, a youth-led innovation company based in Blantyre, for its growing contribution to improving health service delivery in Malawi through home-grown technological solutions.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Patricia Wiskies, expressed the commendation during her visit to Micromek as part of her tour of youth-run organisations benefiting from the Youth Innovation Fund (YIF).

Through a K15 million injection from the National Youth Council of Malawi under the YIF programme, Micromek has ventured into the production of drones designed to transport essential drugs to hard-to-reach health facilities. Beyond health technology, the company is also manufacturing shoes and plastic recycled bricks, promoting environmental sustainability and job creation.

The National Youth Council of Malawi, through the YIF initiative, continues to support youth entrepreneurship, a move aimed at empowering young innovators to drive national development and provide practical solutions to community challenges.
