The Malawi football scene is experiencing significant turbulence as three Super League clubs take drastic steps in response to underperformance and internal challenges. Creck Sporting Club, Mzuzu City Hammers FC, and Dedza Dynamos have all made major coaching changes, sending ripples across the league.

Creck Sporting Club has suspended its entire coaching staff following a string of disappointing results, most notably a 1-0 loss to Mighty Wanderers FC. Head coach Joseph Kamwendo, assistant coach Abel Mkandawire, and forwards coach Chiukepo Msowoya have all been relieved of their duties. The club currently sits 14th on the TNM Super League table with 4 points from 4 matches. In the interim, assistant coach Harry Saidi will step in to guide the team.

Similarly, Mzuzu City Hammers FC has parted ways with head coach Steve Mkwinika through a mutual agreement. The team is struggling in 15th place with 3 points from 3 games. Sources suggest that Mkwinika’s dual responsibilities as a primary school head teacher in Mzimba contributed to his exit due to conflicts of interest.

Meanwhile, Dedza Dynamos have also decided to terminate the services of head coach Andrew Bunya. This comes after a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Karonga United. Despite being 7th on the log with 6 points from 4 games, the club’s leadership deemed a change necessary to revitalize the squad’s performance.

These sweeping changes highlight a new level of urgency among Malawi’s top-flight teams to reverse poor results and address structural issues. As the TNM Super League progresses, all eyes will be on how these decisions affect team dynamics and league competitiveness. Will these clubs bounce back stronger, or will instability take its toll? The coming weeks will reveal the true impact of this managerial shake-up.
