Ministry to Develop Digital Broadcasting Policy

The Ministry of Information and Digitalization has announced plans to develop a digital broadcasting policy aimed at guiding the growth and regulation of the broadcasting industry.
The announcement was made in Lilongwe during a content showcase organized by MultiChoice Malawi, highlighting local programs available on DStv and GOtv.
Secretary for the Ministry, Baldwin Chinyamwaka, said the policy will help create a favorable environment for broadcasters and promote the development of local content.
Chinyamwaka further emphasized that the ministry will ensure that both service providers, such as DStv, and consumers are protected through regulatory oversight by institutions like the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).
Meanwhile, MultiChoice Malawi Managing Director, Averessa Ndlovu Chella, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable entertainment to all Malawians.
