Government Reassures Public of Preparedness Amid Marburg Virus Concerns

The Ministry of Health has assured the public that there is no cause for alarm following reports of Marburg Virus Disease in neighboring Tanzania, emphasizing the government’s full preparedness to respond to any potential threats.

Speaking during a media engagement in Mzuzu, Dr. Kondwani Mamba, Deputy Director of Community and Promotive Health Services, stated that the ministry has already implemented several proactive measures to combat infectious diseases.

“We have put in place a series of activities and strategies to ensure the country is ready to handle any outbreak effectively,” Dr. Mamba said.

The engagement session was organized for members of the Nyika Media Club.

The club’s Chairperson, Feston Malekezo, praised the Ministry for involving the media, noting that such initiatives help equip journalists with accurate and timely information essential for responsible and informed reporting.
