Aero City Project at KIA Set to Transform Malawi’s Economic Landscape
The ambitious Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) Aero City project is poised to become a key driver of national development, with developers JFAAWW ACE projecting the completion of its feasibility study within a year.
Speaking during an inception meeting with stakeholders, JFAAWW ACE International Director Mohammed Samir emphasized the project’s transformative potential, noting that the development will not only expand airport infrastructure but also establish a modern urban centre around KIA.
The initiative is designed to boost employment, improve quality of life for Malawians, and elevate service standards for international travelers, thereby positioning Malawi as a regional aviation and tourism hub.
Spearheaded by Airport Development Limited (ADL) under the guidance of the Ministries of Transport and Public Works, and Tourism, the Aero City project seeks to harness the aviation sector to stimulate urbanization and economic activity.
ADL Chief Executive Officer Victor Lungu reaffirmed the project’s alignment with Malawi Vision 2063, noting that aviation is a priority sector in the country’s blueprint for economic growth, trade, and tourism development.
