Malawi to Commemorate International Women’s Day 2025

Deputy Minister of Gender, Halima Daudi, has announced that Malawi will join the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, as part of efforts to promote women’s rights and gender equality.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lilongwe, the Minister emphasized that the 2025 celebrations will recognize the achievements of women and girls while advocating for their rights, equality, and economic empowerment. The event also aims to mobilize stakeholders at all levels to take transformative actions that accelerate gender equality and sustainable development.
As part of the commemorations, a visit to Kamuzu Central Hospital’s Maternity Ward is scheduled for March 5, 2025, where women will receive various gifts. Additionally, on March 7, 2025, a breakfast meeting, a business expo, and a session for small and medium entrepreneurs will be held at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre to mentor women in business.
This year’s International Women’s Day will be observed under the theme: “All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.” The theme underscores the importance of fostering a fair and inclusive society where women and girls have equal access to leadership and decision-making spaces.
