Jolly Bro’s Bold Move: Raising K10 Million for Malawians in Need

In a powerful display of social responsibility, Malawian-American rapper and influencer Alberto Fernando Zacarias, better known as Jolly Bro (JB), has spearheaded a fundraising effort that has secured K10 million to assist underprivileged Malawians facing economic hardships.
What began as a casual remark on February 25, 2025, during one of JB’s signature live Facebook sessions soon turned into a serious movement. Known for his outspoken criticism of leadership failures, JB urged fellow Malawians in the U.S. to come together and raise funds for those struggling back home. Initially, many dismissed his call as mere talk.
However, in a recent Facebook live session, JB silenced the skeptics by revealing that his campaign had successfully raised K10 million. The milestone has drawn praise from several Malawian artists currently in the U.S.
Nepman, the artist behind N’gona za m’mabango, commended JB’s efforts, calling them a crucial step toward national development. “JB has opened many eyes with his Facebook sessions. People who doubted him can now see that he is a true patriot. I haven’t contributed yet, but I plan to do so soon,” said Nepman, who has been in the U.S. for three months.
Similarly, Mwini Zinthu hitmaker Ril B expressed admiration for JB’s initiative, stating that he intends to contribute as well. Phill Mwanza, manager of Ticheze Media, also pledged his support, emphasizing that JB’s cause aligns with their mission to uplift Malawians.
Mwanza further announced that proceeds from upcoming Ticheze Media shows on July 6th will be directed toward supporting those in need in Malawi.
JB’s initiative has proven that collective action can make a real difference, and his efforts continue to inspire Malawians at home and abroad.
