Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC’s attacking midfielder, Mphatso Kamanga, departed for South Africa on Thursday morning through Chileka Airport to undergo orthopedic knee surgery at Matseke Hospital in Johannesburg.

Confirming the development, Mighty Wanderers 2021 Limited’s Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi, stated that the club facilitated Kamanga’s trip for knee repair surgery.

“You may recall that we sent Kamanga to Zimbabwe last November for arthroscopy and meniscectomy knee surgery at West-End Clinic. However, the injury was found to be more severe, requiring repair and reconstruction. This is why we decided to send Mphatso to South Africa, as Zimbabwe lacks orthopedic knee specialists,” Ndovi explained.

Speaking to Wanderers Media before his departure, Kamanga expressed gratitude for the club’s unwavering support since sustaining the injury.

“I am thankful to the board and management for their support, first in Zimbabwe and now in South Africa. Not all clubs would go this far for their players. God bless Wanderers, and I hope everything goes well for me to return stronger,” Kamanga said.

The midfielder suffered a torn meniscus in August last year during a match against Dedza Dynamos FC.

Kamanga, known for his creativity on the pitch, joined the Lali Lubani side from Karonga United in December 2022.
