Newly elected as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump has vowed to reform the divorce laws that he believes unfairly favor women and disadvantage men, particularly wealthy individuals.

In his bold statement, Trump declared:
“Just because you marry a rich man doesn’t mean you’re entitled to half of his wealth after a divorce. Divorce has become a lucrative business for women in America, and I’m going to put an end to it.”

Trump proposes a cap on financial settlements, suggesting that a man could loan up to $1 million to his former spouse, provided she has collateral. He argued this amount is manageable for affluent men while sufficient for women who may not have contributed directly to the accumulation of wealth.

“If I’m worth $50 million, I’m not giving you $25 million after a divorce. It’s my money, and I worked hard for it,” he emphasized. “Marriage shouldn’t automatically entitle someone to riches they didn’t earn, no matter the duration of the union or even if children are involved. If you can’t afford to raise them, leave them with me.”

Trump’s controversial stance has sparked debate, with supporters applauding his efforts to address perceived inequities in divorce settlements, while critics accuse him of undermining the economic contributions of spouses in marriages. As he begins his presidency, all eyes are on how these proposed reforms will unfold.
