Our publication has learned that Chauka Mwasinga, Chairperson of the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA), is expressing dissatisfaction with the Mzuzu District Football Association (MDFA).

The tension arises after the MDFA chose to nominate Masiya Nyasulu for the NRFA chairmanship ahead of the Elective Annual General Meeting scheduled for February 15, 2025. The nomination bypassed Mwasinga, who has been a prominent figure in regional football administration.

This development was further highlighted over the weekend during the FAM District Football League final, held on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Notably, Mwasinga was absent from the event, breaking the long-standing tradition of his attendance as a key dignitary.

His absence has fueled speculation about strained relations between the two football bodies, especially considering the timing of the MDFA’s nomination decision. Football enthusiasts and stakeholders are now questioning whether the snub was deliberate or a reflection of broader discontent within the football fraternity.

Efforts to reach Mwasinga for comment have so far been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, sources within the MDFA suggest that their nomination of Nyasulu was based on strategic considerations for the future of regional football development.

As the February AGM approaches, it remains to be seen how this apparent fallout will impact the elections and the broader dynamics of football administration in the Northern Region.
