The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has emphasized the importance of integrity and professionalism among Malawian FIFA-accredited referees as they gear up for the 2025 season.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya made the call on Sunday during a ceremony held at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach, where he officially presented FIFA badges to referees included in the 2025 FIFA list.

The 2025 FIFA referee list features 16 referees, categorized as follows:

Center Referees: 5

Assistant Referees: 9

Beach Soccer Referees: 2

The group includes four female referees and twelve male referees, reflecting a commitment to gender inclusivity within the sport.

Among the new entrants to the list are Mayamiko Kanjere, David Chinoko, Sibusiso Sibande and Solomon Siliwonde

Their inclusion underscores FAM’s focus on nurturing and recognizing emerging talent in officiating.

President Haiya reminded the referees of their critical role in ensuring fair play and upholding the values of football. He urged them to approach the upcoming season with dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to the high standards expected by FIFA.

“This badge is a symbol of trust and responsibility. We expect you to perform your duties with the highest level of integrity, as your actions on the pitch reflect on our nation,” Haiya stated.

FAM’s ongoing efforts to develop refereeing standards and promote professionalism aim to enhance Malawi’s reputation in global football.
