As the date for the Northern Region Football Association’s (NRFA) Elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) draws closer, football enthusiasts in the north have called on affiliates to nominate individuals capable of driving the region’s football development.

In random interviews conducted across Chitipa, Mzimba, Likoma, Nkhatabay, and Rumphi, residents voiced concerns about the region’s lagging football progress, particularly in establishing a robust premier league structure.

Kalani Mwanyongo from Karonga emphasized the urgency of reform.
“It’s time to put the house in order, but the ball is in the affiliates’ court. They can make or break the future,” Mwanyongo said.

Likoma-based fisherman and football enthusiast Kondwani Manda urged affiliates to prioritize the region’s needs.
“We want leaders who will listen to our concerns. Our teams lack resources, and if we fail to elect the right people, we’ll regret it for the next four years,” Manda said.

Chakufwa Sele from Mzimba cautioned affiliates against being swayed by financial incentives.
“Candidates will come with enticing promises, including money. Affiliates must stand firm and choose leaders who will deliver on their promises after being elected,” Sele said.

Date and venue are yet not known to marking a pivotal moment for the future of northern region football.
