NGORA Urges NGOs to Submit 2022/23 Reports by December 31
The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) has urged all NGOs that have not yet submitted their 2022/23 reports to do so by December 31, 2024.
Edward Chileka Banda, NGORA’s Chief Executive Officer, made this announcement during an interview in Blantyre on Tuesday.
Banda revealed that while 23 NGOs have already submitted their reports, 12 are still outstanding. He emphasized that NGOs failing to comply with the reporting requirement will not be allowed to continue their operations. However, he declined to disclose the names of non-compliant organizations, giving them an opportunity to meet their obligations.
“If an NGO does not meet NGORA’s regulations in line with CONGOMA requirements, it will not be counted,” Banda stated.
In addition, Banda announced the publication and gazetting of three key regulations: the Operations of International NGOs Regulations, the Registration Regulations, and the Fees Regulations. These reforms, he noted, are designed to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and strengthen the regulatory framework for NGOs in Malawi.
NGORA remains committed to fostering a conducive environment for NGOs to operate effectively across the country.
