Raiply United FC Reflects on Mixed Season
Raiply United FC has expressed satisfaction with their overall performance in the recently concluded Simso 12 Mzuzu Premier League season.
While they fell short of earning promotion to the TNM Super League or the National Division, the team remains optimistic about their prospects in the upcoming season.
The team showcased promise by finishing in the top two at the cluster level, securing a place in the top 8 playoffs. However, they concluded the league season in fifth place, just shy of their ultimate goal.
Team Manager Malachi Chirwa commended the players’ efforts, emphasizing the positives from the season despite the challenges. “The team performed well, considering the obstacles we faced. We are determined to regroup, address the gaps, and come back stronger next season,” he said.
Chirwa detailed the challenges that hindered the team, particularly fixture congestion, which saw them play multiple matches within a short time frame. This, combined with a small squad size, left players fatigued and affected their performance.
He also highlighted the impact of extreme weather conditions during critical fixtures in Karonga. “Towards the end of the season, we played back-to-back games against Chilumba Barracks and Songwe Border in Karonga under extremely hot and humid conditions. It took a toll on the players’ endurance,” Chirwa explained.
Aside from their league campaign, Raiply United FC also competed in the Castel Challenge Cup and FDH Cup. Unfortunately, they were eliminated early by Iponga FC and Lube Masters, respectively.
Despite these setbacks, the team remains focused on the future. With renewed determination and a commitment to addressing key issues, Raiply United FC is confident they can achieve their goal of earning a place in the top league next season.
