The Northern Region Women’s Football Committee (NRWFC) has expressed satisfaction with the level of competition in this year’s league.

Chairperson Ivy Mwafulirwa shared her thoughts ahead of the season’s final matches scheduled for Saturday.

“We have seen an improvement in competition and discipline among the participating teams this season, and we are hopeful to conclude the season on a high note tomorrow,” Mwafulirwa said.

The final games will feature several exciting fixtures: league leaders Moyale Barracks Women will face second-placed MK Academy at Botanic, Rumphi Sisters will host CY Sisters at Rumphi Stadium, Green City will battle Topik Academy, Mighty Queens will host Ekwendeni Sisters, and Mzuzu City Queens will face off against their rivals Gafu Sisters.

Moyale Barracks Women are well-positioned to retain their title, having accumulated 46 points compared to MK Academy’s 43. With a superior goal difference of 51 against MK Academy’s 22, Moyale only needs to avoid a heavy loss by more than 14 goals to secure the championship.

The battle for third place also promises to be intense. Topik Academy currently holds 33 points, closely followed by Mzuzu City Queens with 32, and Ekwendeni Sisters with 30. Meanwhile, Gafu Sisters and Mighty Queens, both in the relegation zone with 7 points each, may need to rely on playoffs to confirm their participation in the next season.

As the season wraps up, all eyes will be on Saturday’s matches, which are expected to deliver thrilling performances.
