Mumba Overwhelmed with Appointment as Minister of Labour
Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba has expressed overwhelming gratitude and a deep sense of honour following his appointment as the new Minister of Labour by President Lazarus Chakwera.
The announcement, made this evening, sees Mumba replacing Agnes Nyalonje, who resigned from the position last weekend.
President Chakwera highlighted the government’s progress in job creation over the past four years and stressed the importance of sustaining that momentum, including initiatives like labour export to Israel, the UAE, and other markets.
“which is why I was reluctant to accept the letter of resignation from Hon. Agnes Nyalonje as our Minister of Labour. But in the end, I had to respect her decision, and I thank her for her service,” said Chakwera.
“To succeed her and continue the work, I have appointed Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba as the new Minister of Labour with immediate effect, and I wish him God’s best in his service to our country,” the President added.
In his remarks, Mumba described his appointment as a privilege and pledged to serve with unwavering dedication.
“I don’t take the trust and confidence that the President has in me for granted. I will not let him and Malawians down. As for my commitment, all I can say for now is that, be assured that I never accept something that I cannot commit to,” said Mumba.
