Songwe Border United Earns Super League Promotion

Karonga-based Songwe Border United has secured promotion to the Super League without kicking a ball after their closest contenders, Raiply FC, suffered a 1-4 defeat against Chilumba Barracks on Saturday.

Raiply FC, the only team still in contention after Chintheche United lost to Chilumba Barracks last week, remains stuck at 21 points with one match to go. This means they cannot surpass the 27 points already amassed by Songwe Border United.

The two teams will face off in the league’s final match next weekend at Kangindwa Ground in Karonga. While Songwe Border United will be playing for prestige, Raiply FC will aim to finish in a better position to secure qualification for the NBS Division One.

Songwe Border United has been exceptional throughout the 2024 season, finishing the cluster stages unbeaten. They have yet to lose a match at their home ground, Kangindwa, cementing their dominance in the league.
