Ng’oma Commits to Enhancing Service Delivery at Immigration
The Minister of Homeland Security, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma, has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to addressing migration management challenges in the country.
Ng’oma made the remarks on Thursday in Lilongwe during the launch of the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services.
According to the Minister, the Strategic Plan will serve as a catalyst for transforming the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services into an institution that delivers excellence and integrity in its services.
Ng’oma emphasized that the plan directly addresses key challenges that have hindered the Department’s ability to fulfill its mandate. These challenges include outdated legislation, limited resources, and growing demands for immigration services.
He further pledged to fully support the implementation of the Strategic Plan by mobilizing resources, fostering partnerships, and strengthening policy frameworks.
Ng’oma also called on stakeholders to collaborate with his ministry in building a modern, efficient Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services that meets the expectations of the public while contributing to the prosperity and security of the nation.
“This event reflects our shared commitment to enhancing the Department’s role in securing our borders, facilitating lawful migration, and delivering essential services to both citizens and visitors.
The Department’s critical role aligns with the broader agenda of His Excellency the State President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, whose vision prioritizes national development and security. I am grateful to His Excellency for his unwavering commitment to addressing migration challenges and for his government’s support and guidance in advancing the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services,” Ng’oma said.
The Strategic Plan, which is expected to guide operations over the next five years, is built on pillars aimed at streamlining processes, modernizing services, and addressing resource gap.
