African Leaders Congratulate Americans on Democratic Elections
Former Malawian President and DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, and MRP President Bantu Saunders Jumah have extended their congratulations to the American people on the re-election of Donald Trump as the 45th and 47th President of the United States.
Professor Mutharika praised Trump’s leadership, emphasizing that his vision and policies have resonated with the American people. He expressed hope for the positive impact of Trump’s presidency on the global stage, commending his commitment to economic growth, national security, and international cooperation. “We share a mutual interest in fostering stronger ties between our nations and exploring opportunities for shared benefit,” Mutharika noted in his message.
Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema remarked that Trump’s re-election reflects the American people’s confidence in his leadership and serves as a testament to democratic values and freedom of choice.
On behalf of the Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP), President and Commander-in-Chief Bantu Saunders Jumah commented that the American election demonstrated the power of the people’s will. He criticized political systems that prioritize power and greed over the well-being of citizens, urging leaders to prioritize transparency and service to the people.
Jumah observed that Americans had chosen “the true side of the story,” defying perceptions held by Democratic Party elites. He drew parallels to African politics, referencing recent events in Botswana and anticipating change in Malawi, where he claimed citizens endure hardships such as hunger and fuel shortages.
Jumah concluded by saying that Trump’s victory symbolizes a global lesson: “bad will not outweigh good, nor shall the devil win over God.” He emphasized the importance of global peace for the development of the world’s population and congratulated President-elect Trump, affirming that “darkness has 12 hours, and so does the light.”
