The Church Aid (DCA) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) have underscored the importance of project Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) visits in remote communities, citing their importance in providing firsthand insight into the challenges faced by these areas.

Joseph Gondwe, Coordinator for DCA and NCA Malawi Country Joint Programme, highlighted this during a visit to Chikutu in Group Village Headman Chisi, under Traditional Authority Kilupula, where the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) is implementing a project.

“Conducting these visits allows rights holders to share the impact of projects and the challenges they face. It also gives us a better understanding of the hard work that our partners are putting into reaching these communities,” said Gondwe. He further noted that the project has made significant progress in tackling gender-based violence, child marriages, and child labor in this area near the Tanzanian border, where trafficking is a concern.

Vincent Bwinga, CCJP Project Coordinator, praised the communities for their commitment to the project, saying, “There’s a great sense of togetherness and coordination here. During joint monitoring, you expect a lot of questions from donors, but today we didn’t get that, which shows they are satisfied with the progress.” He encouraged the community to develop sustainability strategies to ensure the project’s long-term success.

Sharom Mwabwali, a GBV survivor, expressed gratitude for the project’s impact. “This project gave me the courage to speak out against the domestic abuse I suffered. It empowered me to report to the police and get justice,” she shared.

Among others the community highlighted reporting 11 gbva cases which 8 went to court and rescuing 8 children from child labor in Tanzania and returning them to school.

with funds from Norwegian Church Aid and DanChurch Aid, ccjp is implementing the timazge nkhaza project in the three Traditional Authorities of Kyungu, Mwakaboko and Kilupula in the district.
