6 robbers arrested, police recover various items at Jenda

Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested 6 suspected robbers and recovered assorted items stolen in various homes at Jenda in the district.

The arrests follow intelligence driven operations and raids conducted by Police detectives on October 02, 2024 into their hideouts within the trading centre.

Out of 6 suspects two, Gerald Phiri and Charles Banda have been arrested for breaking into the house of Martin Lungu on September 13, 2024 and went away with 21 bags of maize weighing 50 kilograms each and all the bags have been recovered after the arrest.

During the same night the duo broken into the house of Jacqueline Sindani and went away with kitchen utensils such as 7 pots, 19 melamine cups, 14 plates, flying pans and other items valued at 1 million. All the stolen items have been recovered.

It has also been established that the duo broken into the house of Mirriam Nkhoma and went away with 3 bags of fertilizer, kitchen utensils and one big speaker. On this Police have managed to recover the speaker only, while the rest are being traced.

During the same raids Police detectives have arrested Amos Ngozo for being in possession of Mkango motorcycle, red in colour with chassis number 17KSMHJGN8 P3000150 suspected to have been stolen. Police have also arrested Steven Phiri and Philip Danniel for receiving 21 stolen bags of maize.

The last suspect Emmanuel Mchana has been arrested for breaking into the house of Esmie Mwale where he went away with a cell phone, power bank, a flash disk and money amounting to K40, 000. Of the stolen items, a phone, power bank and flash disk have been recovered.

All the suspects will be taken to court soon to answer their various charges upon completion of paper work.
