A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has advised MCP Parliamentarians wishing to bounce back into the National Assembly in 2025 to side with their people, not the party.

Kamphangala said the elections coming in September 2025 are not for political parties to enter into government but individuals will be judged on how they have performed during their 6 years tenure in office.

He said from 2020 MCP Parliamentarians have been supporting dubious bills to be passed and signed by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera into law without going through scrutinization processes resulting in infringing the rights of their people in their respective constituencies.

The MCP diehard has reminded MCP Parliamentarians that the pain and sufferings Malawians are going through under the leadership of President Chakwera have not spared the Chewas who many are bona-fide members of the MCP.

Kamphangala has noted with great concern that while opposition party members were protesting in Parliament on raising fuel prices, MCP Parliamentarians were all seated watching and backing the government a development which is worrisome to their constituents.

He gave an example of Dowa district which is regarded as a food basket district in the central region of Malawi feeding other districts in Malawi saying its people are hard hit by hunger due to prices of fertilizers which are beyond the reach of the poor in the district.

The MCP diehard said instead of crying out to the government to provide relief food to the Dowa communities, Parliamentarians of the district are busy covering hunger with the servant leadership of President Chakwera.

He has warned all incumbent Parliamentarians that shadow MPs are watching them in their constituencies and are capitalizing on their mistakes of siding with the government while their people are in pain and suffering.

“There’s already skyrocketing prices of essential goods and you want this to continue by raising fuel prices, do so at your own risks, your constituents will turn against you,” said Kamphangala.

He has appealed to MCP Parliamentarians minus ministers and presidential advisors to book an appointment to meet President Chakwera to advise him to do better to be responding to the cries of Malawians.

Kamphangala has observed that President Chakwera’s silence on matters of national concern is not only worrisome but a recipe for disaster in the MCP claiming that Malawians including the Chewas are blaming his leadership for bringing in untold suffering in the country.
