Mzuni ladies took a break from their academic activities to offer netball lessons in the Katoto Supermarket league in Mzuzu.
Steered by their captain Priscilla Mbesa, the “green intellectuals” invited Prison to the court to give them lessons that would free them. The intellectuals utilized Tinkhani Ndhovu’ who controlled the centre and supplied dangerous balls to Esnart Tasha and Ruth Ghambi who led the baptism. The green ladies scored 40 baskets while Prison managed just 13, thanks to Priscilla, Melissa Khaniwa and Esnart who manned the defence line.
In the second game, the lessons continued, however, this time the opponents were equal to the task. While Fishani managed to attack in slippery moves, her efforts helped the intellectuals to win again 26 baskets against 21 of the Shimmers.
In the other game, the Mzuni lost with just 5 baskets as Shoprite came with groceries that confused the intellectuals 30-25 it ended.
After the match, Mzuni ladies coach Anthony James describes the results as good. “Winning two games in 3 sessions is not a mean achievement, the girls gave their best and I am impressed with their performance”, said James.
