Thyolo District Commissioner Hudson Kuphanga has requested Vice President Dr. Michael Usi’s intervention regarding a substantial electricity debt owed by Thyolo District Hospital, which exceeds K200 million.

In a communication to Dr. Usi, Kuphanga highlighted that the district is facing challenges in managing the Mtukula pakhomo initiative due to inadequate funding, with the district having received only K1.2 billion, despite the pressing needs.

Kuphanga also mentioned that the district has completed ten development projects under the Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) program. However, the ongoing financial strain, particularly the significant debt for hospital utilities, continues to impact their ability to maintain and expand essential services.
