MRP demands MCP “Hand-outs” Ministers fired and arrested
The 14th registered political party in Malawi, Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP), has demanded Ministers Dr. Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma, Simplex Chithyola Banda and government supplier of goods Vitumbiko Mumba to be fired and arrested for openly distributing cash to citizens as ‘Hand-outs”.
The MRP says it is pathetic and demeaning to see government officials that were supposed to be law keepers and law enforcers are breaking laws in a country where the very same government adopted against “Hand-outs.”
The party has claimed that the MCP is running government in Malawi without laws, the president and cabinet ministers break laws but no state institution stand against these powerful people speaking to itself that Malawi is now being governed through “power” not laws.
In a press statement signed by its President and Commander in Chief Bantu Saunders Jumah, the MRP says ever since 2020 Malawians have observed and watched the MCP led Tonse Alliance government led by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera plundering and destroying the hard-won democracy.
The MRP says the MCP has institutionalized corruption without bringing to book any of its loyalists suspected of corrupt practices, billions of Kwachas have been lost in dirty and corrupt transactions with political parties looking aside.
The party says the MCP has been seen throwing tax-payers money in the butchery, pharmacies and in the pockets of illegal suppliers, no one has been questioned or prosecuted saying in 4 years of President Chakwera’s government, it is the Malawi society that is living in fear and not the corrupt and law-breakers.
It says when instruments of good governance questions these malpractices, the culprits gather power and have audacity to defend themselves that it is not wrong to reimburse transport money to the people one has invited to meet him without referring to the laws allowing them to do this.
The MRP says under President Chakwera, huge amount of money to the tune of K76.5 million was reported to have been dished out to the voters by two ministers and K351 million packed in 90 Kilogram bags was reported to be enroute to Blantyre to be dished out to delegates as “Hand-outs”.
“This is money laundering by ministers, these millions of Kwachas are being handed to the would-be- voters for the elective conference, the country’s laws are watching and doing nothing,” reads the statement in part.
The MRP has called for the establishment of a “LIFESTYLE AUDIT” for the entire MCP led government beginning 2020 for Malawians to know how the ministers, the president, Deputy ministers, presidential advisors and other government officials as well as political party officials accumulated their sudden wealth making them billionaires over a night.
The party has advised the MCP and President Chakwera to stop corruption and fire all corrupt and money laundering ministers with a warning that failing which, the Revolutionary party is going to join all activists and human rights organizations demanding accountability of the entire system of government through the prepared nationwide protests and demonstrations scheduled to begin on the 31st July, 2024.
