Social commentator Rick Dzida says Malawians are demanding President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s explanation on how he handled the search operation for the departed Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima’s plane crash in the Chikangawa forest in Mzimba district on Monday, 10th June 2024.

There are so many questions without answers surrounding the plane crash in the Mzimba district demanding transparent and credible investigations right within from Malawians themselves before the country seeks interventions across the borders.

According to media reports, President Chakwera was allegedly informed of the missing plane at 10; 05 a.m. and it took 6 hours for the Government of Malawi to announce the missing plane which carried the Vice President to Mzuzu and institute search operations.

The reports say when it was dark, the soldiers on the search operation received an order to stop the search to go to their respective houses and come the following day which was Tuesday at 06;00 A.M to meet at the same place to continue the search operation.

President Chakwera in his mid-night address to the nation informed Malawians that the search operation was on the ground meaning that he did not know that the search operation had regrouped due to darkness to come the following day.

Other alleged reports indicate that soldiers of Moyale Barracks in Mzuzu which is a stone’s throw away from the Chikangawa forest got the information of the missing plane at 12;00 noon, they wanted to go to the Chikangawa forest but they were told not to go.

Dzida says in his capacity as the President of this country and the Commander in Chief of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), President Chakwera must clear the air to Malawians on the demise of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and other eight innocent people on board the crashed plane.

“The former Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima died in a military plane which was under President Chakwera’s control and jurisdiction,” reads Dzida’s writings on the wall.

Catholic Priests preaching the sermons at Dr. Chilima’s death joined Malawians in mourning Dr. Chilima and eight others who died in the mysterious circumstances praying to God that He is the only witness in the Chikangawa forest and will provide answers to many questions Malawians have on the tragic death of Dr. Chilima.

On 18th May 1983 three cabinet Ministers Aaron Gadama, Dick Matenje, Twaibu Sangala, and a nominated Member of Parliament for Chikwawa David Chiwanga were tragically murdered at Thambani in Mwanza district and all the killers are scot-free to this day.
