By Judgement katika…..
patients who have undergone surgery and are awaiting discharge expressed high satisfaction with the care they received.
Many pledged to become ambassadors for the center.
Maledye Arubi, a 42-year-old patient from Machinga who suffered from fistula for nine years, urged others not to hide the condition but to seek medical attention.
“Doctors here help us in all aspects of the treatment as required,” Arubi said.
Lucia Bendulo, a patient from Dzobwe, Mozambique, expressed optimism about her treatment after hearing testimonies from discharged patients.
Dr. Annet Banda Chipungu, Medical Head at the Fistula Care Centre, reported that the facility treats about 350 patients annually.
“We do about 300 to 350 cases every year,” she said, estimating that 4,000 to 5,000 cases have been treated since the center’s inception in 2012.
Chipungu encouraged fistula patients to visit the center, noting that Bwaila is the only fistula service provider in Malawi.
The Bwaila Fistula Care Centre, which began operations in 2010, has become a crucial resource for women suffering from obstetric fistula in Malawi and neighboring regions.
This positive feedback highlights the center’s role in addressing a significant women’s health issue in the country and underscores the importance of specialized medical facilities in treating complex conditions.
