MPC to suspend it’s bus transportation

The Malawi Post Corporation (MPC) to suspended it’s operation on post bus services effective from June 30, 2024.

According to a statement released on June 25, 2024 says the corporation has been facing some challenges in delivering its services to satisfy the customers.

“The Corporation has been experiencing challenges in delivering the services to customer satisfaction because the age of the fleet, leading to rising maintenance and operation cost resulting in the business positing persistent losses.”

The statement further says while the business model has been challenging, the management is optimistic about the future and their commitment to provide a reliable and efficient public transportation service to the country.

“While the current business model has been challenging, management is optimistic about the future. Our commitment to providing a reliable and efficient public transportation service remains unwavering.

“We are determined to restrategize and make a comeback with a revitalized and sustainable post-bus service.

Since it’s launch in 2019, the Post Bus service in service has played a crucial role in connecting various cities, including Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Karonga and has been an integral part of the society, transporting over 1.3 million passengers.
