Sunganimoyo advises UTM members to take Chakwera as Father

The New Liberation Party (NLP) President Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, has advised UTM members to take President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as their father following the demise of their leader Dr. Saulosi Chilima who died in a military plane crash in the Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba district on Monday, 10th June, 2024.
Sunganimoyo said the unity which was there between Dr. Chakwera and Dr. Chilima through their electoral Alliance should not be derailed but to continue growing stronger and stronger for the good not only of the two parties but Malawians at large.
He said some members of the UTM may be thinking that this is the right time to end their Alliance with the MCP because their leader is dead, describing this as not wishing the country well reminding all that Dr. Chilima always preaches peace when he was alive.
Speaking through a video clip circulating on various social media platforms, Sunganimoyp has asked UTM members to wait for the Commission of Inquiry set by President Chakwera to establish the truth on what exactly happened for the plane to crash killing Dr. Chilima and eight others.
Sunganimoyo said in politics there are no permanent enemies and nobody knows what tomorrow will bring claiming that the UTM has only 4 Members of Parliament (MPs) and if unity is not there in the UTM, these four, will cross the floor to the MCP and this will be the end of the UTM in Parliament.
He said he would have loved it if President Chakwera decided to appoint the Vice President of the Republic to replace the departed Dr. Chilima from the UTM not one from the MCP for Malawi to continue to be in peace and in unity.
The NLP President has civic-educated Malawians that for the fact that the MCP was a party of darkness should not be passed to the MCP of today saying he sees no reason to finger-pointing the MCP as being behind the tragic death that has claimed the life of Dr. Chilima and eight others.
“I am encouraging the youth in all the political parties to be busy in devising ways of building their parties and not speaking bad against the MCP for the old MCP,” said Sunganimoyo.
Meanwhile, Sunganimoyo has registered his deep concern over events that happened in Balaka when one of the plane crash victims Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri was laid to rest claiming that some UTM members wanted to block former President Madam Dr. Joyce Banda and Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani-Hara from making their eulogies.
Sunganimoyo has advised all that if they don’t love Madam Dr. Joyce Banda and Catherine Gotani-Hara they should not take that all against them saying if the family has accepted the program, let all respect the program and not take over the program from the family to incite violence.
