Contract for MEC chair Kachale expires
Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale’s term as the Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has concluded. During his tenure, Kachale was pivotal in promoting the integrity and credibility of Malawi’s electoral process. He consistently emphasized the importance of free and fair elections, as well as the need for active youth participation in politics.
In various public lectures, such as those delivered at the University of Malawi and Mzuzu University, Kachale highlighted the critical role of young people in shaping the country’s democratic future. He encouraged youths to engage in the electoral process and resist being manipulated by politicians for unethical purposes.
Looking ahead, the preparations for the 2025 general elections are underway, and the MEC remains committed to maintaining transparency and fairness in the electoral process, building on the groundwork laid by Kachale during his tenure.
