Chakwera ready to seek another term as Malawi’s President

His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, says he will seek another term, his second after announcing that he is ready to be a torchbearer for the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the next year’s general elections if the forthcoming MCP convention slated for August this year endorses his name.
Speaking at a development rally at Ndaula Primary School Ground in the area of Senior Chief Masumbankhunda in Lilongwe, Chakwera said he respects the rule of hence his fate lies in the hands of delegates at the convention.
He advised the convention organizing committee to open up and allow anybody willing to challenge him to the seat of presidency.
Malawi also advised Malawians to work together as one unit and desist from politics of hate and discrimination.
Speaking earlier, MCP Secretary General Hon Eisenhower Mkaka said the party and all its allies are geared to give Chakwera support to continue ruling the country.
Mkaka emphasized that the president will only serve his terms according to the laws of the country.
Minister of Transport Hon Jacob Hara praised the president for fighting for the welfare of Malawians living in rural areas through the construction of modern roads.
Lilongwe South West Member of Parliament Jean Sendeza advised people in the area to register in large numbers to vote for President Chakwera in next year’s elections.
Senior Chief Masumbankhunda assured the president that he will triumph in next year’s elections because people are convinced of his development works.
