Local Experts, Entities Successfully meet H.E ‘s Passports Services Restoration System
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services says has resumed the issuance of Electronic Passport (E.Passport) services following completion of the system restoration.
This is according to the Department’ s Press statement it has released on Monday, signed by its Director General, Brig.Gen.C.D.E.Kalumo(rRtd).
“The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services wishes to notify the general public that issuance of e.passport has been completed”, Reads the statement.
The statement indicates that the development will commence with printing of the passports gradually in Lilongwe within the week and later be conducted in the other regions of the country.
“The development means that printing of e.passport will start gradually from Lilongwe and then in other regions” Highlighted the part it.
The press statement further indicates that the Government has also reduced E . passport fee from K90,000 to K50,000(55%) for local Malawians with the waiting processing of 10 days when the system is fully calibrared and operating optimally and that more details shall be communicated through the Homeland Security and Information ministries soon.
The system was hacked by some other people in the past months and has been restored by Local experts and other entities who have worked around the Clock within the time frame set by His Excellency President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
