Karonga Derby in Top 4 Bonanza Final

Iponga FC will face Baka City in the final of the 2024 Top 4 bonanza which is taking place at Karonga stadium in Karonga district.

In the first game we saw Baka city progress into the final with a three nil victory over Nkhatabay based side Kadona Stars courtesy of goals from Gule Mwaisope before substitute Geoffrey Mwakyembe bagged his brace to give the clever boys the much needed win.

Second game of the day saw Iponga FC cruise into the final in a 6 goal thriller as they defeated Embangweni United 4-2 with goals from Obie Raphael, Kennedy Mwakabaghe and a brace from Blessings Mwalilino for Iponga while Norbert Chipeta and Emmanuel Shumba scored for Embangweni.

Speaking after todays matches Northern Region Football Association Vice General Secretary Desire Bellings said that the bonanza has started on a good note and has called on Karonga people to grace the finals tomorrow.

“We have watched good games this afternoon as Baka City has defeated Kadona 3-0 and Iponga has defeated Embangweni 4-2 which has setup a final between Baka City and Iponga FC tomorrow at the same venue while Embangweni United will play Kadona Stars in third place match.” Said Bellings

Desire also added that they have seen alot of talent in this years bonanza and they are hopeful teams will come for their signature.

“We have seen alot of talent this afternoon for example the Midfieder from Embangweni was a marvel to watch and also Iponga and Kadona have some talented players which might help Baka and other Super League teams if they can approach their teams and lastly let me call all football lovers in Karonga to come and grace the day tomorrow as they will be entertaining matches.” Concluded Bellings

The tournament is organised every year to strengthen the NRFA League Graduate before the Super League starts and Chitipa United are the defending champions of this bonanza.
