Vuwa Kaunda Advises Opposition to Respect Chakwera
Member of Parliament for Nkhatabay Central constituency Symon Vuwa Kaunda, has advised fellow opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) and the opposition parties to respect President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera , government and all other leadership positions.
Vuwa Kaunda said government is a machine for one not to play with hence a great need of each and everyone to respect it as the government of the day thanking President Chakwera for allowing him being DPP to come and attend his meetings.
Speaking at the Martyrs Memorial Service of Worship in Nkhatabay on Sunday, Vuwa Kaunda reminded Malawians of the mid-night meeting soon after former President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika’s death that he and others, were doing contrary things to the country’s Constitution.
Kaunda said he was not alone who was conducting the mid-night meeting claiming that the embattled Leader of Opposition in Parliament Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa was there too, saying police came to disrupt their meeting as it was against the constitution.
“This time, I don’t want to be part of them, I was arrested for breaking the Republican Constitution and today, I don’t want to involve myself in the group against this government,” he said.
A Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Youth Governor for Lilongwe Urban, said it is not the opposition not respecting President Chakwera but he is reducing respect for himself for not honoring his campaign promises and lies.
The Governor speaking on a strict condition of anonymity said President Chakwera is not a man of his words, today he says this and tomorrow he changes tone saying Malawians have labelled Chakwera as a president who cannot be trusted with.
He said President Chakwera must walk the talk not only for opposition members to trust him but Malawians who have lost trust in him to regain their lost trust so that together they can develop the country and not through lies.
“President Chakwera lied to Malawians on austerity measures, passport issuance hacked, no comment on MCP thugs who disrupted peaceful DPP Blue Convoy Parade in Lilongwe, MCP youth pulling down AFORD flags in Mzuzu, among others,” said the source.
He urged Vuwa Kaunda to go and meet President Chakwera to tell him that Malawians are in pain and suffering and they are failing to respect him because he doesn’t want to listen to their cries expressing hope that Chakwera will listen to him.
